The Rocks
Sydney's premier historic district, the Rocks, is also home to one of its most exciting art spaces, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), which emerged in March 2012 from a $56 million head-to-toe revamp. The museum, which has doubled in size, now has three additional galleries showcasing artworks from Australian and international artists (until mid-September, catch highlights from the 18th Biennale of Sydney), as well as a new rooftop sculpture terrace with views over Circular Quay. Other neighborhood standouts include Argyle Gallery and Gannon House, both of which focus on Aboriginal arts and crafts.
