Best Time to Visit
Visitors in Spring will be rewarded with space on the city’s famous beaches, and smogless care rides before the summer sets in. Plus Hollywood is buzzing for the Academy Awards. But Fall is equally fair, when hotel deals appear and crowds disperse again.
What to Pack
Unlike the Big Apple, bars and clubs are usually happy with casual attire, so long as it stylish, but clubs can expect collared shirts to keep out the riff-raff. Sunscreen, sunglasses and swimsuits are a year-round must. And a cool hat wouldn’t go amiss.
“There are more artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city at any time in the history of civilization” the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation has reported.
Many of them of course, are in the film and music industries, with the major events (The Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Grammies) all taking place in the first two months of the year.
LA also boasts 841 art galleries and museums in the county, more per capita than any place on earth, including must-sees, the Getty Center, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art).
Time your visit for LA Art show, Photo LA and Art Los Angeles Contemporary – all taking place in January.
