Australian businessman Professor Clive Palmer has officially revealed the blueprints for his Titanic II ocean liner during a global launch in New York. The new ship named will be every bit as luxurious as the original – just don’t expect WiFi internet, a mobile phone signal, or even a TV.

In an address to the world, Professor Palmer said, “we can bring to life the vision of so many people, artisans, artists, musicians, designers, seamen, stewards, men, women, and children who sailed on the titanic. We can remember who we are and where we came from; Titanic comes from a time when the world was different.”

Through the rebuilding of the ship, Professor Palmer wants to recognize the artists and artisans whose skill, creativity, and dexterity has never to this day been fully acknowledged because of the ship’s limited service. This magnificent vessel is to be constructed in memory of the heroic people who served on the ship, the passengers who sadly shared their fate and all those that survived the tragedy.

The new ship will have a welded hull, diesel power generation, bow thrusters for increased manoeuvrability, and a new hull form below the waterline providing greater stability and fuel efficiencies. The ship comprises of 10 principle steel decks with state-of-the-art 21st century technology, latest navigation and safety systems.

Construction of the ship will take place at CSC Jinling Shipyard in China with her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in 2016.
