Following his Grammy success, Gotye will land in Canberra on Friday to officially open the “Fractured Heart” interactive sculpture at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA). A collaboration between Gotye and projection art specialists Illuminart, “Fractured Heart” allows visitors to “remix” “Somebody That I Used to Know” in real time, using their bodies to trigger sounds and light animations.

The NFSA is proud to exhibit “Fractured Heart” at its Canberra headquarters and to bring audiences an evening of presentations and screenings curated and introduced by Gotye and illuminart.

Gotye was awarded three Grammys at the 2013 Grammy Awards, including best Alternative Music Album for “Making Mirrors” as well as Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of The Year for “Somebody That I Used To Know” (featuring Kimbra).

Gotye, real name Wouter (Wally) De Backer, is the first Australian to win multiple Grammys for the same release and only the second to win Best Record after Olivia Newton-John with “I Honestly Love You” in 1975.

”I'm grateful to everyone at home for their constant support. It's been amazing and I don't take it for granted,” Wally says.

I'm particularly pleased that my album “Making Mirrors” has been acknowledged as well as the single. Hopefully this means there's a place for adventurous, interesting music out there - and for completely silly music too!"

After taking Australia by storm in 2011, the Federal Government provided Gotye with a $10,000 Australia Council grant to showcase his talents at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York. In recent years he has achieved much-deserved global recognition for his work, with “Somebody That I Used to Know” going platinum in Australia and the US, and achieving number one status in more than 18 countries.
