Australia will be represented by just three galleries at the 2013 edition of Art Dubai: Greenaway Gallery, Sutton Gallery, and ARNDT Gallery.  Paul Greenway of Adelaide’s Greenaway Gallery will be a first-time Art Dubai participant and will exhibit the work of Iranian-born Australian artist Hossein Valamanesh, Argentinian-born Australian/German-based artist Ariel Hassan, as well as famed one-time YBA (Young British Artist) Mat Collishaw.

Melbourne’s Sutton Gallery will participated in Art Dubai for the third year in a row with an exhibition of works by Australian artists Gordon Bennett and Lindy Lee as well as Melbourne-based Egyptian-born artist Raafat Ishak and Melbourne-based Pakastani-born artist Nusra Latif Qureshi.

Although he is based in Berlin, gallerist Matthias Arndt is somewhat of an honorary Australian thanks to his Australian-born wife and the pop-up shows he has held in Sydney and Melbourne.  For Art Dubai 2013, ARNDT gallery will present a solo project with Wim Delvoye.

The only other Australian artists being exhibited at Art Dubai 2013 are the powerhouse artist duo Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro whose work will be presented by San Francisco's Gallery Wendy Norris.

The assessment process, conducted by Art Dubai’s independent selection committee, has been rigorous, with the available positions heavily oversubscribed. We are thrilled with the line-up of participating galleries who together will create the most diverse fair yet.”
