Bond girl Naomie Harris wore one of his neckpieces to the premiere of "Skyfall" in New York; Kristen Stewart is known to be a fan of his work; British singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf has been spotted wearing one of his creations.

Now, thanks to a collaboration with UK fashion juggernaut TopShop, the awesome jewellery designs of Australian-born, London based jeweller Jordan Askill are being made available at TopShop stores around the world.    

Combining the elegance of the Cartier panther with elements of mystery and fantasy reminiscent of Gothic period architectural adornments, Askill’s capsule collection for Topshop is delightful yet intriguing.

The panther head ring with a removable heart charm hanging from the panther’s mouth is an Artinfo Australia favourite.  Askill’s ring appears to be a clever twist on those medieval door knockers that feature a lion or other creature holding the knocking ring in their mouth.

The same motif, which replaces one functional design element with another, is carried through to other pieces in the range including the gorgeous Panther Cuff and the whimsical charm bracelet with removable panther head, heart and cloud charms.

In an interview with TopShop, Askill said regarding his inspiration for the collection that “I wanted to design classic, cute personal jewellery that could go with every look and feel. I wanted to add a sculptural element to bring the jewellery into the next dimension.

“For this we looked at panthers, the idea of running away with these majestic creatures, reminiscent of ancient Egypt with a hand carved quality and connection with the past. Each piece is precious like a locket or detachable pendants that you can keep with you or pass on to your friends,” Askill went on to explain.

Askill honed at the Sydney Institute of Technology before heading to Paris to work with designer Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme and finally took the giant leap and launched his eponymous collection in 2010.  He has won numerous high profile awards for his designs including the Grand Marnier Design Award for Fashion Excellence.

Askill’s TopShop collection was launched in the UK and online on the 15^th of November and will be available at the Topshop Sydney store on the 6^th of December. To shop his collection click here
