Video: Allora & Calzadilla Prepare for Launch of Australian Project
In celebration of the launch by Kaldor Public Art Projects of Project#26: Allora & Calzadilla's Stop, Repair, Prepare at the State Library of Victoria, see two videos below of Jennifer & Guillermo rehearsing with performers prior to the inaugural performance.
To be presented at Melbourne's State Library of Victoria from the 16th of November until the 6th of December 2012, Stop, Repair, Prepare: Variations on 'Ode to Joy' for a prepared Piano integrates sound, performance and sculpture to create a captivating new experience for audiences that heralds a new direction for international contemporary art.
First exhibited in Haus der Kunst in Munich in 2008, the work has since been represented in a number of museums across Europe and, most famously, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla live and work in Puerto Rico and have been collaborating as an artist duo for fifteen years, producing an experimental and interdisciplinary body of work combining performance, video and sound.
Kaldor Public Art Projects collaborates with groundbreaking artists to create new works inspired by place and time, and explores the linkages between art, creativity and education. The not-for-profit organisation works with a wide variety of partners to bring art to spaces outside galleries and museums, and to present innovative works.
