In a new avatar, in a new concert, she is all set to rock New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 10. Shakira’s concert performance, was originally scheduled to take place at the venue on January 17, 2018 but got rescheduled. As part of her El Dorado tour, the Colombian singer, songwriter, and dancer will enthrall audiences with a bevy of her Latin American, Arabic, rock and roll influences and never to forget; her invincible belly dancing abilities.

The singer shot to prominence in Latin America with Pies Descalzos, her major-label debut, in 1996. As of 2001, Shakira has sold over 10 million albums alone in Latin America. She forayed into the English-language market in 2001 with her fifth album, Laundry Service. Its lead single, "Whenever, Wherever", seamlessly became 2002’s most successful single. Her stupendous success was further consolidated with “Fijacion Oral, Volumen Uno” and “Oral Fixation, Volume Two,” her sixth and seventh albums respectively. “Oral Fixation, Volume Two” contained “Hips Don't Lie,” the best selling single of the 2000s.

Her eighth and ninth albums, She Wolf (2009) and Sale el Sol (2010), were appreciated by music critics. Then came the mind blowing, "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" the official song for the 2010’s FIFA World Cup. It became the highest-selling World Cup song in history with more than 10 million downloads. Boasting of over 1.8 billion views, it remains one of the most viewed videos on YouTube.

Shakira has four out of the twenty top-selling hits in 2000, a feat no other artist has been able to accomplish. She has dabbled in television and was coach on the fourth and sixth seasons of the reality show “The Voice,” in 2013 and 2014. The pop icon has received a slew of awards, including 3 Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Video Music Awards, 7 Billboard Music Awards, 39 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 13 Latin Grammy Awards, and has also been nominated by the Golden Globe. With a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, her music is one of the highest selling of all time. Charity works interests Shakira and she is actively involved in it through her Pies Descalzos Foundation.

She was appointed to the President’s Advisory Commission on “Educational Excellence for Hispanics” by U.S. President Barack Obama. The commission is a four-person group that advises the US President and Education Secretary. Shakira has been listed among the world's top 100 most powerful women by Forbes.

So, get there soon or you may just miss history in the making!

The concert is on August 10, 2018 at Madison Square Garden, 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001
