More2Screen announces Shakespeare’s Globe production, the late romance “The Winter's Tale,” will be broadcast live in more than 400 cinemas across the U.K., Ireland as well as selected European territories on Thursday, October 4, 2018.

The production has been directed by Blanche McIntyre who is the acclaimed director of hugely celebrated “The Writer at the Almeida.” “The Winter’s Tale” production marks as the second broadcast from inside the celebrated 'wooden O' in the history of Shakespeare’s Globe,” writes Broadway World.

WhatsOnStage quotes critique Daisy Bowie-Sell’s review: “Blanche McIntyre directs Shakespeare's notoriously tricky-toned tragedy with such a level hand and head that it's hard to notice when the play swerves from high tragedy to happily ever after.”

The story is divided into two halves and two moods. The first half of the story takes place in the cold and harsh Sicilia where King Leontes destroys his family and the peace of the land with jealousy. The second part takes place in the warmth of Bohemia where the loving, pastoral ambience sees the King’s daughter growing up. “The second part in Bohemia is where 16 years later King’s lost daughter Perdita is living a merry life of a shepherdess,” writes Independent.

The plot of the “The Winter’s Tale” production will venture into the joyful chaos of Bohemia from the seething, stifled Sicilian court. The great drama of Shakespeare catering to all the irrational emotions and inexplicable forces will render the show and reveal how even the greatest cruelties can be redeemed by love and forgiveness with a touch of genteel magic. “The production will continue its collaboration with the artistic director Michelle Terry as part of his first season at the South Bank venue,” says WhatsOnStage.

Broadway World quotes the Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe, Michelle Terry: "We are delighted to be bringing our wonderful production of “The Winter’s Tale” to cinemas across the country and around the world. Live broadcasts allow us to share these plays, performed in our unique and iconic theatre, with an even wider audience, reaching people who may not be able to reach us, and bringing Shakespeare's stories to the big screen in all their vibrancy and immediacy.”

Ian Shuttleworth’s Financial Express Review of Shakespeare’s Globe’s “The Winter’s Tale” stated: “Blanche McIntyre turns in a rare undistinguished production.”
