Schultz Contemporary, Berlin, is collaborating with Kunsthaus sans titre to showcase “Centrifugal,” an external solo exhibition of recent paintings by German artist Lilli Elsner. This exhibition consists of 16 paintings by the artist created during 2013-2018. Most of the paintings are fabric on wooden frames, while some are mixed media works. The artist takes the viewers to a new world of fairy-tale characters with her large-format work. Some of the paintings included in this exhibition are: “... all cocks are screaming at the same time,” 2018, mixed media fabric on wooden frame; Amazon myth: “... the fragility of the God dreams,” 2018, mixed media, fabric on wooden frame; and Amazon myth: “... they do not leave me alone,” 2018, mixed media, fabric on wooden frame, among others.

The description of the exhibitions represents Lilli Elsner, the artist, to be as young, wild and talented. She is the 24-year-old from Brandenburg who prefers mixed technique as her mode of work and she develops her artworks on fabrics — the works which she produces serially with print motifs according to their own specifications.

“Her art is expressive, surprising and provocative. Their statements are as complex as their way of working,” states Eventbrite, the event page of her show. The show at the Kunsthaus sans titre is organized in cooperation with the international working gallery Michael Schultz Berlin.

Lilli Elsner was born in 1993 with twin sister Lea. She lives and works in Nauen and Brandenburg.

Since 2005, Elsner was engaged extensively in experiments with the chemistry of colors and different image carriers. In 2012, she joined the University of the Arts, Berlin, but after five semesters left the university being dissatisfied with the curriculum. She joined the Atelier project Wachow and was engaged in reconstruction and restoration of the brick building to create a studio and workshop.

Lilli Elsner’s work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions in different galleries, including at: Kunsthalle Dresden; Kunsthalle Brennabor, Brandenburg adH; Gallery Michael Schultz, Berlin; Label Foundation Brandhof; and Edition Brandhof I, among others.

“Centrifugal” will run through July 8, 2018, at Kunsthaus sans titre, Franzosische Straße 18, 14467 Potsdam.
