With the Volvo Ocean Race set to finish, OMEGA as its official timekeeping partner has unveiled the Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black for the winning team.
OMEGA occupies a special position as the Timekeeper of the ongoing Volvo Ocean Race, and the company is making sure that while keeping track of the action happening on the sea, it encourages the participants on land. On land the company last month headed to Newport and unveiled the limited edition Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black “Volvo Ocean Race” timepiece. As the timepiece hit the headlines, the brand announced that it will be presented to the winner of the race. With the conclusion of the Volvo Ocean Race set to happen in The Hague in the month of June, all is set for a thrilling end of the race.
As for the “Volvo Ocean Race” Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black, only seventy-three pieces will be created as part of the limited edition run. The number commemorates the years for which the race has been held. The watch was designed based on the boats that take part in the race and can withstand the tough conditions that the participants and the craft have to face.
Measuring 45.50 mm, the watch functions as a divers’ chronograph and is paired with a rubber strap in black. Ceramic in black is also used on the case while 15 minutes of the bezel feature a red rubber covering.
