The Ulysse Nardin Executive Skeleton Tourbillon took its place on the red carpet at Cannes, on the wrist of Mads Mikkelsen during the premiere of the film “Arctic.” Mikkelsen, who is no stranger to high profile Hollywood movies and series such as “Hannibal” sported the timepiece designed by Ulysse Nardin as it best matched his style and “free-spirited” image.
Ulysse Nardin was quick to draw a parallel with the character “Ulysses.” The company billed Mikkelsen’s character as a modernized version of the fabled Greek Ulysses, who lent his Latin name of Odysseus to the “Odyssey” created by Homer. The film captures a long absence from home with Mikkelsen’s character stranded in the frozen expanse of the Arctic, and premiered at Palais des Festivals at Cannes. “Arctic” sees Mikkelsen’s character toil to stay alive, after surviving a plane crash when he is studying climate changes occurring in the frozen region, and how his spirit is undaunted by challenges much like Ulysses.
As for the Ulysse Nardin Executive Skeleton Tourbillon that Mikkelsen chose to wear to the premiere, it features an attractive blend of rose gold and black colors. It also has a manual winding movement and large Roman indexes. Rose gold makes up the case and the timepiece features a striking bezel crafted from black ceramic, while the center is dominated by the executive rectangle with a skeleton movement. The case of the timepiece measures 45 mm and it comes paired with an alligator leather strap.
