Christie’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels on May 16 will feature some colorless and colored diamonds lots with its highlight being Harry Winston’s 50.47-carat Superb Diamond Ring leading the pre-sell estimate in excess of $7 million.
The Harry Winston ring is from an important private collection. With an estimate of USD 5,003,688 – 7,005,163 (CHF 5,000,000 – CHF 7,000,000), it is the top highlight of the sale. The platinum ring with maker’s mark and 6 ¾ in size, is set with a D-color, VVS1 clarity, cushion brilliant-cut diamond weighing 50.47 carats. GIA report accompanying the lot states that the cushion brilliant-cut, 50.47-carat diamond is D-color, Type IIa and VVS1 clarity but potentially Internally Flawless.
About the auction, Christie’s writes: “The auction catalog of Geneva Magnificent Jewels Sale, May 16, 2018, reads as an encyclopedia of the finest jewelry, with lots ranging from a late 19th century Tiffany & Co. emerald and diamond necklace to an important collection of modern Cartier pieces. The sale will feature a selection of exceptional jewels consisting of colored and colorless diamonds, colored gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires etc., organic gemstones such as natural and cultured pearls, mother-of-pearl, corals etc. Apart from this, period jewelry such as Art Deco and Retro jewelry will feature prominently at the sale, as well as animal-themed jewelry.”
A total of 419 lots will be on offer at the auctions, which will be held in two sessions; the First Session starting at 1.30 PM offering Lots 1 to 274 and the Second Session starting at 7.00 PM offering Lots 275 to 419. The top highlights of the sale are the Colorless and Colored diamond lots and based on estimates out of the 10 most valued lots of the sale, colorless diamond lots take the top lot and three other lots, five lots are colored diamond lots, and one lot is that of colored gemstone.
