With the “boyfriend” look catching on with the fashion conscious, fashion brands are designing watches, belts, and pieces of clothing that help women standout with a “masculine” vibe. Chanel has also launched a new version in its boyfriend series of watches, named the "BOY·FRIEND Skeleton" featuring definite masculine elements and lines.
The launch of the "BOY·FRIEND Skeleton" with is beige gold case and bezel, grabbed headlines but Chanel was also quick to outline how it was just the recent iteration in its long standing line. Other timepieces included in the line are the "BOY·FRIEND Tweed" which has a beige gold strap, case, and a bezel set with 64 diamonds. With the masculine tinted BOY·FRIEND lineup showing no signs of losing popularity, other companies have cashed into the trend and offer specific items to women who prefer wearing their boyfriend’s accessories and clothing.
Perennial favorites in the boyfriend look are jeans which are often distressed and feature a folded cuff. Other clothing, which women borrow from their boyfriends include white button down shirts or those that have pin stripes. These shirts are usually paired with jeans, leggings, or skirts. Oversized t-shirts, men’s belts, chunky watches, and large blazers are other items included in this “boyfriend” clothing list. Leather jackets with a “boyfriend” cut are also being increasingly made specifically for women.
