A precious collection of Italian treasures is currently on display outside of Italy for the first time. The Art Gallery of Western Australia is now hosting “A Window on Italy – The Corsini Collection: Masterpieces from Florence”. The Perth gallery will host the collection full of its rich history until June 18, 2018.

The show features works drawn from the private art collection of the eminent Corsini family. The installation includes artworks by painters such as Botticelli, Pontormo, Tintoretto and Caravaggio. Alongside paintings, decorative objects, furniture, costumes, works on paper and a dining set for six depicts the life of the Corsini family. Through the centuries these works of art have survived the devastation of war and escaped natural calamities such as the flood of Florence in 1966. This is the first time that the Collection has traveled outside of Italy and is being exhibited in Perth after a showing at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. The collection includes portraits, landscapes, mythological and religious paintings, plus fascinating decorative objects and furniture from the Palazzo Corsini.

“A Window on Italy — The Corsini Collection: Masterpieces from Florence” runs through June 18, 2018 at Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth Cultural Centre Roe St, Perth WA 6000, Australia.
