Portland Gallery displays works by Gordon Mitchell at its London venue.
Gordon Mitchell embarked on a career in teaching until becoming a full-time painter in 1989. The works on display depict his expertise as a prolific painter and focus on 'abstract expressionist.’ The artist is often labelled a surrealist, though he thinks not, he certainly wants his work to be thought-provoking. Inspiration can be a group of words, a topical news story, but more usually it's a visual pun that his pictures develop out of. These paintings are an immediate form of expression — often he will not know what he will put on his canvas until he takes up his brush.
The exhibition will be on view from February 15 through March 9, 2018 at Portland Gallery 3 Bennet Street London SW1A 1RP.
